In the early hours of Tuesday, November 29, Andres Balanta collapsed during a practice session for Atletico Tucuman of the Argentine Primera Division. Despite 40 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), 22-year-old Colombian football player passed away.
He had a 65 rated silver card in FIFA 23. To respectfully honour his legacy, EA Sports decided to ‘remove his card from the Atletico Tucuman’ team and his ‘FUT Items wouldn’t be in packs’ anymore.
The message from EA SPORTS FIFA TEAM appeared in game as well as on Companion app confirming the actions taken by EA.
The midfielder, who had a bright future ahead of him, has represented his country at the U17, U20, and U23 levels. A representative for his club stated: “We regret having to let you know that Andres Balanta passed away. The club’s followers are devastated right now. Naturally, we are in support of his friends, family, and teammates.”
